The Carolina Clay Guild was founded in 1985 for the purpose of providing its members and the general public with opportunities to gain experience with ceramics. Members include production potters and clay sculptors, both professional and amateur, from throughout the Southeast.

The mission of the North Carolina Pottery Center is to provide public awareness of and appreciation for the history, heritage and ongoing tradition of pottery making in North Carolina, through educational programs, public services, collection and preservation, and research and documentation. The center seeks to contribute to the perpetuation of North Carolina’s pottery tradition and the communities that have sustained them.
The center is open to the public Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is a small admission fee in support of the centers nonprofit programming.
