Weymouth Woods-Sandhills Nature Preserve will present “Plants That Bite Back” on Sunday, June 1 at 3 p.m.
The program will be held in the auditorium and will be followed by a walk to the nearby bog to see the plants, which grow in a difficult area to get to, so be prepared to walk in wet overgrown areas. Dog Show
The Moore County Kennel Club will host its annual dog show on Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. There is a parking charge of $3, but no charge for admission to the event.
Spectators will have an opportunity to see at least 130 different types of dogs in group and obedience competitions.
There will be an American Kennel Club information booth and several food spots. Free guided tours of the dog show will be presented each day.
A microchip clinic will be held at Barn 10, sponsored by the MCKC and the ADC’s Companion Animal Recovery.

May Day
The Eagle Springs Volunteer Fire Department will hold its first annual May Day on Saturday, May 31, from 1 to 5 p.m. with a dunking booth, face painting and refreshments. Free admisison. Contact Jamie McKenzie at 673-1528 or Tracy at 673-5673.
Clean-Up

Free Concert
The Moore County Music Society will perform a free concert on Friday, May 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the Southern Pines United Methodist Church, featuring Jennifer Thomas, soprano, Deanne Renshaw and Erik Larson, oboes, Robert Hill, Trumpet and Paul Long, organ. Info: 693-1790.
