Sandhills Club

On Thursday, May 22, the Sandhills Club will hold its monthly luncheon meeting at Seven Lakes Country Club. Jean Wiley, a dream interpreter, will be the special guest speaker and will talk with club members about the meaning of some of their dreams. This is also “Hat Month” in which members wear funny, silly, or beautiful hats – whatever strikes their fancy. Sandhills is a non-profit organization, whose purpose is to give women of Moore County an opportunity to meet and socialize with women from other Sandhills communities. Current membership represents Southern Pines, Whispering Pines, Pinehurst, Seven Lakes, Vass and Foxfire.

In addition to the monthly luncheon meetings, held on the fourth Thursday at one of the local country clubs, other activities are offered and members may participate in as many or as few as they wish. There are several bridge groups, both duplicate and rubber bridge, a book club, the Pineneedlers for members who enjoy sewing, knitting, crocheting, etc., a dining out group (which includes husbands), and the solo set for gals without partners, who plan fun activities, day trips, shopping excursions, etc. There is literally “something for everyone” in the Sandhills Club.

Membership is open and there is no waiting list at the present time. If interested in joining, please call Membership Chairman Maxine Cunningham at 949-3255 for information and/or an application. The Sandhills Club has been active for more than 12 years now, and is an especially good organization for people moving here from other areas.
