Eastman Earns Eagle Scout Rank

Will Eastman earned his Eagle Scout rank, the highest honor in Boy Scouts, on March 17. On Sunday, May 11, a ceremony honoring Will’s achievement was held during church service at Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Participating in the ceremony were his parents, Jeanie and Bill Eastman, sister, Jennie, and Joe Grantham, Pinehurst Troop 7 committee chairman, who presented the award.
Will is 12 years old and attends West Pine Middle School where he is on the Distinguished List. At West Pine, he is a member of the Beta Club, the MathCounts Team and the Science Olympiad Team. He was recently recognized for high achievement by Duke University in its Talent Identification Program for mathematically and verbally gifted seventh graders. This summer, he will be attending the Junior National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C.
Will has earned 28 merit badges during his scouting experience with Troop 7. He has served in numerous leadership positions in the troop and was recently elected by his fellow scouts into the Order of the Arrow.
For his Eagle Scout Project, Will designed and constructed a fenced-in trash enclosure for the Sandhills Children’s Center.
