Viking Girls Get 12th Soccer Win

The Union Pines girls’ soccer team won its 12th match of the season 2-0 at Western Harnett Friday night.

The Vikings got on the board in the 21st minute when Natalie Abel finished a cross from Jamie Snell. Midway through the second half, Molly Robinson slipped a ball across the middle on the ground to Ashley Wahl.

The sophomore first-timed it into the net from 12 yards out for her 42nd goal of the season.

Melissa Puszynski tended the net and made seven saves for the Vikings’ ninth shutout of the season.

Union Pines, now 4-7 in the Tri-County Conference and 12-7 overall, played at Asheboro Tuesday and travels to Southwestern Randolph for a 7 p.m. contest on Thursday.
