Goldson and Burns reside in Pittsboro, are life-long friends and share rural backgrounds. The exhibit features tranquil bucolic landscapes, animals of the farm variety, occasionally in the company of humans. Rural faces are represented by wistful bovines, charming cats, pink pigs, cuddly sheep, colorful roosters, hens and chicks, horses, occasionally accompanied by their human friends and caretakers. “Rural Places” encompass a nostalgic “Lost Tobacco Field on 751,” lush green fields, a field in winter, a shady path in the woods and attractively arranged bales of hay. Beautiful yellow-centered white daffodils celebrate spring. Simple still life compositions which harken back to an earlier, less complicated life style, round out the attractive, up-beat exhibit.
The Campbell House Galleries are located at 482 E. Connecticut Ave., Southern Pines. For additional information call 692-4356; e-mail website:www.artscouncil-moore.org.
