It’s All About Herbs At Festival

More than 25,000 people are expected to attend the 17th annual Asheville Herb Festival on May 5 – 7, at the Western North Carolina Farmers Market.

The event is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

“If It’s Herbs, It’s Here,” is the theme of this popular event. More than 60 vendors offer the best variety and selection of herbs, herb plants and herbal products, such as medicinal herbs, teas, soaps, lotions, books, essential oils, and herbal crafts.

“People come to the Spring Herb Festival in Asheville because it is educational, fun, and they know they will find the herbs they are looking for. They can learn about herbs from knowledgeable herbalists,” says Rick Morgan, festival coordinator.

Educational programs by herbalists are presented Friday and Saturday at the top of the hour beginning at 10 .am. An information booth is operated by local Master Gardeners, who are always willing to answer questions about planting, growing, and caring for herbs.

The WNC Farmers Market is conveniently located at the intersection of Interstates I-26 and I-40 at Asheville.

Ample parking is available with no fees for parking, programs, or admission to the festival, sponsored by the North Carolina Herb Association and the North Carolina Department of Agriculture.
