Fall Dance Classes Now Registering

The Carolina Performing Arts Center will hold registration for fall classes in beginning, intermediate and advanced classical ballet as well as jazz. Registration dates are Monday, March 6, from 2 until 5 p.m. and Thursday, March 9, from 5 until 7:30 p.m.

“Our mission,” says Executive Director Lori Christman-Bourtasenkov, “is to instill lifelong values of courage, discipline, persistence and patience as we provide our students classical training in the joyous art of ballet.”

She and her husband Timour Bourtasenkov, principal dancer with the Carolina Ballet in Raleigh, have been directors of CPAC for just a few months and are delighted with the reception that they have received in the Sandhills as well as the strong endorsement from Robert Weiss, artistic director of the Carolina Ballet in Raleigh. Daily the Bourtasenkovs observe their students who, as they are mastering ballet, develop a sense of personal presence and enhanced self-confidence. Progress, they say, has been amazing.

Additionally, the Carolina Performing Arts Center, under the Bourtasenkovs’ direction, will present “Peter and the Wolf” at the Sunrise Theater on the evenings of Thursday and Friday, May 25 and 26. The school performance at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 26, is sold out, and the 11 a.m. show has room for just one more school.
