Mustangs Get Win Over Cummings in Baseball

The North Moore baseball team began its 2006 season this week with a 3-1 loss at Union Pines on Monday, and a 13-1 win over Burlington Cummings on Tuesday at Robbins in a game called at the end of five innings because of the mercy rule.
Returning varsity players from last season are seniors Clay Hutchins, Kirk Williams, Dalewyn Spinks and Josh Frye; juniors Jeremy Monroe and Lucas Garner; and sophomore Steven Davis. Rounding out the varsity roster this season are seniors Nathan Davis, Ulysses Hackett and Will Latham; juniors Jerome Maness and Chris Wolfe; and sophomore Josh Sheffield.
Assisting Mustang coach Bobby Collins this year are Jim Morris, Drew Bond and Craig Perry.
The Mustang junior varsity team will be coached by Butch Cleaveland and Tony Martin. The jayvee roster includes Lyle Barnett, Billy Troyer, Cody Garner, Andrew Forrest, Matthew Pope, J. T. Garner, Jody Maness, Chris Bales, Tristen Rouse, Colton Maness, Dustin Martin, Will Garner, Harold Chandler, Trevor Wood and Cody Bales.
The Mustangs play South Stanly at home today at 5 p.m.
