Service Moves to Pinecrest

The Easter service of Community Presbyterian Church will celebrate “A New Day Dawning” at Pinecrest High School on Sunday, March 27. ”Community members, guests, and church family are invited to the worship service where all will rejoice and give thanks for the new life given by God in the resurrection of Jesus Christ,” said a spokesman. “The reading of the Easter Gospel and the proclamation of life’s new possibilities will be led by Dr. Robert W. Battles Jr.”

The triumphant festival service will include the majestic hymn, “Jesus Christ is Risen Today” and other sacred choral classics, gospel music, praise choruses, contemporary pieces, and music of Taize. Musical instruments represented include the organ, piano, hand bells, trumpet, timpani, harp and violin. Participating will be members of the church choirs: the Celebration Singers, The Cancel Choir, The Chancel Bells, and the PAWS Children’s Choir, all under the direction of Margo C. Martin, conductor, and Dorothy McDonald, organist.

The prelude music, to be provided by Laurie Muirhead, harpist and Karen Seller, violinist, will begin at 9:30 prior to the 10 a.m. service.

For a number of years, because of the limitation of space at Community Presbyterian Church, the Easter service has been held at Pinecrest High School.
