The special guest will be Minister Lance Hair of St. Paul and his congregation. He is a 12-year-old who can preach and sing, and was also the guest last year. Little Monotia Hammond is the chairperson for this occasion.
On March 20, Rising Star Chapter No. 584 Order of the Eastern Star in Hoffman sponsors a Red Hat and Purple Suit or Dress program in honor of their 52nd anniversary. The program will be held at Fletcher’s Chapel United Methodist Church at 4 p.m. with prizes to be given away.

On March 12 and 13, the anniversary celebration for the Crystalaires will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday and conclude at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at Fletcher’s Chapel Church.
Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church will hold its pastor appreciation service on March 20 at 11 a.m. Dinner will be served after the morning worship, sponsored by Rising Star Chapter No. 584. The guest speaker will be Clementine Harris of Candor.
The community extends sympathy to the McKeathan family on the death of Annie Pearl. Her funeral will be held today (Wednesday) at noon in Pennsylvania.
Sympathy is also extended to the McLaine family on the death of Lucille McLean.

Refiner’s Fire will hold a Bible study tonight at 7:30 with prophet Jimmy Williams as the teacher. Regular church services are on Sundays at 11 a.m.
Christ Way Deliverance Church in Eastwood will have a chicken and fish plate sale on Saturday, March 12. Plates are $6 each. The sale will be held in the church parking lot from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The church will hold its Holy Week services March 16 through 18 at 7:30 p.m., with a different speaker each night.
St. John in Carthage held a Bible study on Tuesday, March 8, with Pastor Hooker teaching. On Saturday, March 12, the United Church of God Missionary workshop will be at St. Stephens in Troy.
Word of Truth Christian Center in Vass will hold a Bible study tonight at 7:00 with Pastor Spencer teaching. Regular services are held on Sundays at 11 a.m.

The Crains Creek Fire Department barbecue chicken and pork fund-raiser will be held Saturday, March 12, from noon until 7 p.m. The action will start at 7:10 p.m.
The Mount Pleasant Bible study will begin this Wednesday night at 7 p.m. The study will focus on a book by Max Lucado, “He Still Moves Stones.” There are still books available.

Ruby Brower and Paul Ray called their parents, John and Irene Ray over the weekend to check on them.
Veronica, Teirra and Keisha Lester spent the weekend with their grandparents, John and Irene Ray. Jonathan Ray turned 16 on Saturday and spent time with his mom, Angela Ray. She took him on a shopping spree for his birthday. Also his dad, Kenneth Bellamy, took him on another shopping spree Sunday evening after church.
Moore County Brotherhood is continuing to sell tickets for gas cards.
There will be a drawing for prizes April 4 at 6 p.m. at Pugh/Smith Funeral Home in Carthage. The first prize is a $100 gas card, and the second prize is a $50 gas card. The price for each ticket is $1.
William and Scarlett Priest celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary on Friday, March 4.
James Pattishaw and Fred Frye are in the hospital and George is in Pinehurst Nursing Home. Dorothea Taylor is also in the hospital in Chapel Hill.
