Calder is a native of New Brunswick, Canada. At an early age, he was converted to Christ and surrendered his life to Him. He trained for the ministry at New Brunswick Bible Institute and upon graduation entered the pastoral ministry.
He founded the Woodland Baptist Church in Woodland, Maine, in 1963, where he served as pastor for 13 years. In 1970 he founded the Living Water Bible Conference for adults and youth and he served as director of this ministry for 20 years. During the years of his ministry, he also taught in public high school and conducted a weekly radio ministry for 20 years, and over 40 TV specials. Wendell and his wife Joan have one daughter, Lauri, who is married to the Rev. Paul Harsh, and one granddaughter named Kristin. The Rev. Calder has conducted Crusades throughout the United States and Canada in several Foreign Countries. He feels that the Lord has called him to this ministry in local churches that love the Lord and stand for the Truth. He has a ministry of Bible Preaching declaring that all are singers and only Christ can save.
In May of 1982, Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga conferred an honorary doctor of divinity degree to Calder. The Calders make their home in Newport, Maine.
His ministry of local church evangelism was founded in 1975. The crusade begins Sunday morning, April 4, with two morning services at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. and will continue each evening at 7 p.m. through Wednesday, April 7.
Nurseries are provided for each service for ages three and under.
