The Union Pines girls’ soccer team picked up its first Tri-County Conference victory of the season by the score of 8-0 at Eastern Randolph Thursday.

The Vikings, 1-1 in the league and 7-1 overall, were led by four goals and an assist by Ashley Wahl. Melissa Puszynski was in front of the net for the team’s sixth shutout of the season.

Scoring four times in each half, the Vikings also got goals from Tamika Peterson, Jamie Snell, Natalie Abel and Molly Robinson. Also contributing assists were Courtney Sauer, Ana Maria Quiros and Magen Lindsey.

The match originally scheduled for Monday at South Davidson has been changed to April 15. This week the Vikings play a pair of home league matches against Trinity on Tuesday and Asheboro on Thursday. Both are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
