The movies begin on March 23-24 with the back-by-popular-demand comedy, “The Station Agent.” “The Station Agent” is about a “little-person” loner who inhabits an old train depot to get away from the world. Instead, he unintentionally attracts his neighbors and becomes entangled in their lives and problems.
Debuting the next week (March 27-29) is “The Triplets of Belleville,” a “bizarre yet beautifully composed piece of nutty whimsy.” This French (English subtitled) animated comedy is the story of a grandmother trying to find her kidnapped grandson, with the aid of her dog and three music hall singers.
Rounding out the trio of films is the “The Girl With A Pearl Earring,” a fictionalized tale based on the actual famous painting by Johannes Vermeer with the same title. “The Girl” plays April 1-4.
All movies will have matinee and evening showings. The Sunrise Theater is on 250 NW Broad Street. Contact the theater via 692-3611 or www.sunrisetheater.com. Films are sponsored by Autowerks in Pinehurst.
