Softball, T-Ball Leagues’Registration Open Now

The Southern Pines Recreation and Parks Department is now accepting registration for its spring girls’ softball leagues and T-ball league, while also offering adult golf lessons.

There are two softball leagues for girls being offered — 12-and-under and 13-16 year olds. The leagues are open to girls 16 and under as of Aug. 1.

The leagues are co-sponsored by National Golf Club. Games and Practices are on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at the Armory and Optimist Field. Registration runs now through early April. Cost is $5 for a Southern Pines resident and $15 for non-residents. Volunteer coaches are needed to coach the teams.

Registration is also under way for the department’s Tball league for youth 5-7-year-olds, age as of Aug. 1.

Games and practices are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (if needed) in the evening at the Campbell House ball fields. This league is a fun, instructional league that will help improve coordination and physical fitness.

Registration continues through early April, and costs $5 for residents/ $15 for non-residents. Volunteer coaches are also needed for this league.

For adults, the department is taking registration for golf lessons. The cost for the lessons is $20 for Southern Pines residents and $40 for non-residents. All sets of lessons are five – one-hour lessons (once a week for five weeks). Information 692-2463, or visit the Web site www.southernpines.net/recreation and download a registration form.
