ESU to Host Liberal Arts Professor

At a black tie dinner on April 9 the English Speaking Union will hear Dr. Charles O’Hadley, professor of English, drama and linguistics at Queens College in Charlotte, where he taught for many years.

Hadley has a doctorate in English and linguistics and is a recipient of many awards and honors, some of which include: North Carolina Professor of the Year 1999; the Distinguished Teaching Award; a Fulbright Scholarship to France and to England and an English-Speaking Union grant to England.

Renowned in his field as a dialect coach for commercial films and theater professionals, his clients include Vivien Leigh, Charlton Heston, Nick Nolte, Robert Duval, Fay Dunaway and many other celebrities.

Hadley has produced a documentary about an Appalachian couple entitled “Ray and Rosa Hicks: Last of the Old-time Story Tellers,” which was shown on a PBS affiliate.
