Erik C. Baldwin

Air Force Airman 1st Class Erik C. Baldwin has arrived for duty at Yokota Air Base, Tokyo, Japan.

Baldwin is an air transportation journeyman with the 630th Air Mobility Support Squadron. He is the son of Ruth E. Baldwin of Carthage and Arne A. Anderson of Foxfire Village.

Mark J. Blackman

Air Force Capt. Mark J. Blackman has arrived for duty at Kunsan Air Base, South Korea.

Blackman is an F-16 pilot assigned to the 80th Fighter Squadron.

He is the son of Mark and Debbie Blackman of Southern Pines. Blackman received a bachelor’s degree in 1995 from North Carolina State University in Raleigh.

Patrick M. Campbell

Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Patrick M. Campbell, son of Frances J. and Paul J. Lewis of 1670 W. Massachusetts Ave., Southern Pines, recently received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

Campbell was recognized for his outstanding achievement while serving as platoon Sgt. With Marine Wing Support Squadron 372, Marine Wing Support Group 37, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, Calif. Campbell was singled out for the award because of his superb initiative and contribution in helping the command fulfill its mission.

Campbell is a 1983 graduate of Pinecrest High School and joined the Marine Corps in January 1984.

Tracy A. Caudle

Tracy A. Caudle has been promoted in the U.S. Army Reserve to the rank of specialist.

Spec. Caudle has also received a Certificate of Appreciation from the El Salvadorian Army awarded to soldiers who helped in providing hurricane relief.

Caudle is a hospital food specialist at Fort Bragg, Fayetteville. His wife, Raechelle, resides in Shawnee, Okla. The specialist is a 1983 graduate of the high school program at Sandhills Community College.

Jeffery T. Crouch Jr.

Army Pvt. Jeffery T. Crouch Jr. has graduated from One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo. The course of instruction included basic military training and advanced individual training (AIT).

Crouch is the son of Jeffery T. Crouch of Carthage and Anella M. Crouch of Santa Maria Way, Yuma, Ariz.

Christopher C. Emmons

Marine Corps Pvt. Christopher C. Emmons, a 2000 graduate of Union Pines High School, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Emmons successfully completed 12 weeks of training designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally.

Travis J. Facenda

Marine Corps Pfc. Travis J. Facenda, son of Deborah J. and Warren J. Facenda of Cameron, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Facenda successfully completed 12 weeks of training designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally.

Facenda is a 2000 graduate of Western Harnett High School of Lillington.

Paul A. Gouveia

Navy Petty Officer 1st class Paul A. Gouveia, a 1995 graduate of O’Neal High School, Southern Pines, recently reported for duty at Navy Recruiting Command, Arlington, Va.

Arthur R. Kilfoil

Army Pvt. Arthur R. Kilfoil has arrived for duty at Camp Eagle, Wonju, South Korea. Kilfoil, an aircrew chief, is assigned to the 6th Cavalry.

He is the son of Arthur R. Kilfoil of Fayetteville and Debbie Kay of Cameron.

Llewellyn D. Lewis

Navy Lt. Cmdr. Llewellyn D. Lewis, whose wife, Page, is the daughter of Dorothy M. and Leighton W. Smith of Pinehurst, recently visited Hobart, Tasmania during a six-month deployment to the Western Pacific Ocean and Arabian Gulf while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, home ported in Bremerton, Wash.

Christie M. Medvick

Coast Guard Fireman Christie M. Medvick, daughter of Tom and Nancy Christensen of Southern Pines, recently graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N.J.

Medvick was one of nine women in the November Company, which totaled 90 recruits. Assisted by QM 1 Leon and GMC Jesionoski, Lead Company Commander AST 1 Gladish, awarded Medvick with the Honors Graduate Ribbon.

Medvick’s grandfather, Col. Kasperbauer U.S.A.F. Ret. presented her with the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training graduation certificate.

Medvick’s first duty assignment is at the Coast Guard Group Fort Macon, Atlantic Beach. As a fireman, her basic duty is facilities maintenance in the engineering field. Her future plans include attending Marine Science Technician School in Yorktown, Va. and Officer’s Candidate School in New London, Conn. Her goal is to become an Officer in Environmental Management.

Medvick is a 1993 graduate of Pinecrst High School. She received an honors associates degree from Sandhills Community College in 1995, and a bachelor’s degree in natural resources management from N.C. State University in 1997.

Joseph B. Parker

Coast Guard Seaman Joseph B. Parker, son of Sherrill B. Parker of Whispering Pines and Joseph J. Parker of Southern Pines, recently returned from a law enforcement patrol in the Caribbean Sea while assigned to the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Forward, homeported in Portsmouth, Va.

Parker is a 1992 graduate of Pinecrest High School and joined the Coast Guard in September of 1999. He is a 1997 graduate of Appalachian State University.

Don C. Patton

Army Pvt. Don C. Patton has graduated from the traffic management coordinator advanced individual training (AIT) course at Fort Eustis, Newport News, Va.

Patton is the son of Debbie L. and Donald L. Patton, and grandson of Carlton and Flora Patton of Cameron. The private is a year 2000 graduate of Western Harnett High School.

Clarence J. Wickman

Army Pvt. Clarence J. Wickman has graduated from the three-week airborne training course at the Army Airborne School, Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

Wickman, a parachute rigger, is the son of Helen V. and Charles H. Wickman of Cameron.
