Temple Theatre will present "The Honky Tonk Angels" June 8-25, at the theater located in downtown Sanford.
Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for groups and $10 for students.
Three very different women, from very different walks of life share one dream: making music.
Unlike the 1970s' "Charlie's Angels," these three angels, Angela, Darline and Sue Ellen, seek a grail that everyone can relate to: capturing a childhood dream that has, to date, eluded them.
In pursuit of their dreams, these three strangers share the same bus ride to stardom. Join them on their journey to country music's Land of Oz, Nashville, Tenn., where dreams are made and hearts are broken.
With spiritual standards such as "I'll Fly Away," "Amazing Grace" and "Will the Circle Be Unbroken," traditional country songs like "Coal Miner's Daughter," "Ode to Billy Joe" and "These Boots are Made for Walking," and the bluegrass favorites, "Rocky Top," "Soldier's Joy," and "Paradise Road," no true country music fan will want to miss this event.
Val Rives, the director of Broadway's "42nd Street" and Marijo Brown pair up as director and band leader.
The show is sponsored by First Bank and WLHC-Life 103.1. Opening night is Friday, June 9, and the audience is invited to meet the performers and designers after the show and enjoy a complimentary champagne toast.
Tickets may be obtained through the Temple Theatre Box Office at 120 Carthage St. in downtown Sanford, 2 to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday or by calling 919-774-4512, ext.225.
Tickets for the 2006-2007 season go on sale July 1.
