SANDHILLS BEST BETS: Jewelry Sale Benefits Kitchen

The Arts Council of Moore County will host Carol Shannon of Perfect Presents for a show and sale of fashion jewelry on Saturday, June 25, from 1 to 5 p.m., with paintings by Marie Travisano and silk flowers by Cynthia Piczini.

A percentage of sales will benefit the Campbell House kitchen renovation.

Family Fun

Michaels Arts and Crafts Store in Pinecrest Plaza will host a free family fun event on Saturday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Those attending may make arts and crafts projects. Participants include the Southern Pines Fire Department, Cingular Wireless and others.

SunFlix Films

The SunFlix Film program presents “Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room” and “The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill” as part of its movie series.

“Enron” shows Friday, June 24, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, June 25 and 26 at 4 and 7:30 p.m. and Monday, June 27, at 7:30 p.m. (See review on page C6). The film details the story behind the collapse of Enron.

“The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill” will be shown Wednesday, June 29, and Thursday, June 30, at 7:30 p.m.

This G-rated film is the true story of a Bohemian “St. Francis” and his remarkable relationship with a flock of wild green-and-red parrots.

Tickets are $6 for matinees and $7 for evening shows.

The Sunrise Theater is located at 250 NW Broad St., Southern Pines.

‘Crossroads’

“Crossroads,” a play by Robert Inman, continues through Sunday, June 26, at Temple Theatre in Sanford.

Inman will be present Sunday for the final performance at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for groups, and $10 for students, and can be obtained at the box office at 120 Carthage Street in Sanford of by calling (919) 774-4155.

Bloodmobiles

The American Red Cross will hold a bloodmobile Monday, June 27, at the Carolina Hotel in Pinehurst, from 1:30 to 6 p.m. Call 629-8571 for an appointment.

The Pinehurst Rotary is sponsoring this bloodmobile.
