I read the article, was sorely disappointed because it had nothing in there about the work that we do but it was promoting another project that one of our volunteers is trying to raise funds for.
What about the families that we help with assistance, whether it be for transportation, GED classes, ESL classes and beginners computer classes?
We have been here for 10 years and are striving to be here for another 10. The materials being handed out during our anniversary celebration were to find out what other needs are in the community so that we could help and develop programs for those particular needs.
The items that our volunteer mentioned that are in the works we have never heard about. The Community Action Program is separate from us and has nothing at all to do with us! We are not going to go into a building with them.
This item would have to be brought up before our board of directors. We have the Habitat for Humanity coming in once a week along with someone with the Literacy Council.
Those things were true, but the rest was just a bunch of bunk. The article should have been promoting us and the work that we do, not someone’s project.
