SANDHILLS BEST BETS: Blue Farm Presents Festival

The Malcolm Blue Farm Bluegrass and Gospel Family Festival, featuring pony rides and face painting, will be held Saturday, June 11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the corner of N.C. 5 (Bethesda Road) and E. L. Ives Drive, Aberdeen.

Play Continues

Sandhills Little Theatre presents “The Importance of Being Earnest” at Owens Auditorium on Friday and Saturday nights, June 10 and 11, at 8 p.m.

“This Oscar Wilde comedy has already delighted audiences during its first weekend’s performances,” said a spokesman.

Tickets are $15 for adults, and $8 for students and can be obtained by calling 690-9069, or 944-7853, and are also available at the door.

Free Genealogy Help

A Family History Open House will be held on Saturday, June 11, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on U.S. 15-501, across from Pinecrest High School.

“Learn how this area resource center can help you with your genealogy needs, even if you’ve never begun the task,” said a spokesman. “Experts will be there to teach you to research, organize, record, and preserve your family’s data.”

Bird Habitats

Tweet Things in Southern Pines will host Susan Strine, master gardener, on Saturday, June 11. She will be available between 1 and 3 p.m. to answer questions about landscaping and habitat to encourage birds to visit the yard. Tweet Things is located at 128 W. Pennsylvania Ave., across from The Pilot.

Ben Owen Pottery will hold a “Papa-gama” kiln opening on Saturday, June 11. The pottery is located at 2199 S. Pottery Highway, N.C. 705, Seagrove.

Jazz Concert

The SCC Jazz Band will hold the first of three outdoor summer concerts on Monday, June 13, at 6:30 p.m., Boyd Library Green, on the campus of Sandhills Community College, 3395 Airport Road, Pinehurst. The concerts are free. Bring a picnic dinner or purchase a barbecue or grilled chicken plate for $7. Dinners are sold beginning at 5 p.m.
