“An Evening with Tom Lehman” will be held at the Pine Needles Reception Center at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 7:15 p.m. The cost for the dessert event is $6. There will also be a question-and-answer session.
Born in Austin, Minn., Lehman is a graduate of the University of Minnesota. Since turning professional in 1982, he has won five PGA tour victories.
So far this year, he is ranked 16th in PGA Tour money and has tied for second in both the Buick Open and The Players Championship.
Lehman has been a member of three Presidents Cup teams, three Ryder Cup teams and in November of 2004 was named the 2006 Ryder Cup captain by the PGA of America.
The Lehman Design Group had 15 golf course design projects ongoing or complete in 2004. They include Troy Burne Golf Club in Hudson, Wis. (site of the Nationwide Tour’s Scholarship American Showdown), the TPC of the Twin Cities, done with Arnold Palmer (the site of the 3M Championship on the Champions Tour in Minneapolis); and the Gallery Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz., co-designed with John Fought (part of the 2002 Chrysler Classic of Tucson Tournament).
Lehman credits his wife, Melissa, and his marriage for giving him focus to do well on the Tour. His wife served as his caddie at the 1998 Nissan Open when regular caddie Andy Martinez suffered two broken ribs in a pickup basketball game the night before the start of the event.
He and his wife have four children, ages 15, 13, 10 and 2. They live in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Tickets for the event can be purchased at Robert’s Golf in Aberdeen, Old Sport Gallery in Pinehurst Village, Pine Needles Golf Club in Southern Pines, Little River Golf Course in Carthage, Seven Lakes Country Club in Seven Lakes, or by calling 695-1589.
