As the old sports saying goes: offense may sell tickets, but defense wins championships.
Gemini coach Steve Wilson couldn’t agree more with that statement, as he said that both teams displayed exceptional defensive play.
But the Gemini used two late goals by Anna Pilson and Tania Miron to get the win.
Pilson made a crossing pass to Miron, who scored the first goal with 10 minutes left in the game.
With about five minutes on the clock, Pilson broke away for another goal to clinch the victory.
Gemini finished the season with a perfect 11-0 record and, true to its mantra of defense, scored 43 goals, while only allowing the opposition to score three goals.
