Disservice to Republicans

Ferrell Blount, Elizabeth Kelly and the N.C. Executive Committee are the favorites of the Democratic Party of North Carolina. When they talk and act, they do a disservice to the Republican Party and give aid and comfort to the Democrats.

They object to the deal Rep. Richard Morgan cut to be co-speaker. When a Republican switched to Democrat, the Republicans lost the lead position. The co-speaker arrangement provided a means to keep Republicans in the leadership. The charge that Richard raised taxes is ridiculous; the Assembly, Republicans and Democrats, voted that action.

Howard Brubaker has now resigned from the N.C. State Republican Executive Committee. He is one of many that have departed.

In this critical election year, division is not what the party needs. In the words of President Reagan, “There is a time to govern and a time for partisan politics.” This is not the time for divisive politics.

I notified Blount many months ago that, based on his and Kelly’s actions and position, I would no longer support the party, but would support candidates of my choice, individual North Carolina Republicans and the president.

My position is further reinforced by the continuing departure of real leaders.

Fellow Republicans let us join with Howard and move our party forward to a complete win in the coming election.
