Theatre Campers Plan Show

Presented by the Sandhills Theatre Company (STC) and the Arts Council of Moore County (ACMC), 2003 Summer Theatre Camps for Journeyman Actors and Technical Theatre began on Monday, June 9 with over 20 young thespians, ages 12 to 15, and six young technical theatre students eager to learn about the magic of theatre.

The campers will present a production full of scenes that will show what they have learned in the past three weeks. The performances will be this Saturday, June 28 (11 a.m. & 7 p.m.) at the Sunrise Theater. Tickets, ($5 for ACMC members/STC subscribers and $8 for nonmembers), are available at the Campbell House (482 E. Connecticut Ave., Southern Pines) and at the Sunrise Theater box office 30 minutes prior to each show.

The campers in the Summer Theatre Camp for Journeyman Actors camp include Ben Berk, Hannah Bethune, Fred Billings, Lauren Bleggi, Erika Chase, Amy Damone, Jeremiah DeVore, Jennifer Ethridge, Bradley Gibson, Jake Hamilton, Ash Hammac, Rebecca Libby, Katie McEwan, Corie McInnis, Adriana Melendez, Morgan Mills, Caitlin Natt, Ellen Patrick, Christopher Richard, Kathryn Thornton, Matt Vrchota, Joshua Wolonick, and Evan Yang. The campers in the Summer Theatre Camp for Technical Theatre Students include Kristina Cox, Dana Daymand, Alex Hamlin, Maura Thornton, Jason Wolonick, and Myles Yang. The campers in the Summer Theatre Camp for Technical Theatre are Kristina Cox, Dana Daymand, Alex Hamlin, Maura Thornton, Jason Wolonick, and Myles Yang.

The instructors for the Journeyman Actors Camp are Athena Cavallaro and Michael Norman, and the instructor for the Technical Theatre Camp is Renae Hubbard. With their knowledge and enthusiasm for theater, the instructors are teaching the campers all the theatrical skills needed for the stage, such as improvisation, movement, vocal projection, character analysis, set design, costuming, stage make-up, and much more! Lending a helping hand to the camp teachers are the camp counselors Meagan Anderson, Julie Barrett, Jessica Buchele, Elizabeth Pigg, Lenae Simpson, and DeBow Wells.
