A team since 1974, the Maisonpierres met at Ohio Wesleyan University and worked toward a joint doctorate at the University of Maryland, recording all the sonatas and sonata-related works written in the 20th century for one piano, four hands.
Their program will include music by contemporary American composer Eric Ewazen an duets by Bach, Bizet, Moszkowski and Ravel.
The couple first came to North Carolina in 1978 as part of the North Carolina Visiting Artist program. They live inLaurinburg, are members of the music faculty at UNC Pembroke and have posts as church organists and music directors, Elizabeth at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Laurinburg and Jonathan at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pinehurst. Penick Village is located on E. Rhode Island Avenue extension in Southern Pines. The auditorium is in the North Building.
Seagrove Summerfest
The annual Seagrove Summerfest is scheduled for Saturday, June 21.
More than 60 Seagrove-area potters are celebrating Summerfest with newly stocked shelves. Demonstrations of pottery production can be seen at most participating shops.

Weymouth Woods
Weymouth Woods-Sandhills Nature Preserve will hold a “Just for Kids Insect Program on Sunday, June 22 at 3 p.m. Register by Saturday, June 21 by calling 692-2167. The Preserve is located at 1024 Fort Bragg Road in Southern Pines.
