Berger Speaks
What does Sandy Berger know that we need to know? What is on the horizon in high tech products? What recent technology releases are going to have the greatest impact on our daily lives? These questions have been the focus of several recent presentations Sandy has made to area computer clubs and civic groups.
The May meeting of the Seven Lakes Computer Club enjoyed Sandy's presentation on the latest products on the market. Sandy demonstrated Sony's new AIBO dog. AIBO is an Artificial Intelligence roBOt that can be trained to act just like a real dog. Viruses and how to prevent them was another requested topic at the Seven Lakes Computer Club.
At a recent meeting of the Pinehurst Rotary Club, Sandy discussed what's hot in computers and technology. Rotarians enjoyed a crash course in broadband, wireless and the security issues it brings, flat screen monitors, CDs writers, and digital cameras.
Technology companies that are successful in both the local and national areas were especially interesting to members of the Sandhills Community College Computer Club. Members of this club had as many questions about the scope of business of Sandy's company, Computer Living Corp, as they did about recent developments in the high tech world.

Stardust Dinner Dance Club
Last Thursday at the Country club of Whispering Pines, the Stardust Dancers ended their 14th season with a Hawaiian luau.
Each member and guest was presented with a lei upon arrival. Happy hour with hors d’oeuvres and punch was followed by a Hawaiian buffet.
The Executives provided the music for ballroom dancing. The nearly 100 dancers in aloha shirts and muumuus made a colorful picture on the dance floor.
Intermission activities involved a Mai Tai dance mixer led by Arlene and Tony Hantjis. Carol Atcherley was the mistress of ceremony and her husband, Sam, supplied Hawaiian music throughout dinner.
The dance committee met after the dance to discuss plans for the 2002-2004 season, which will begin in September.
Information concerning membership in the Stardust Dinner Dance club for the coming season may be obtained by calling Pat Logue at 949-3666.
