BRIDGE NEWS: June 28, 2002

Belle Meade Chicago

The monthly Chicago Bridge at Belle Meade was held on Friday, June 21 at the Club House.

The winners were first, Mary Anne and Bob Bird; second, Carlene and Bob Levin; third, Doris and Taylor Carr; fourth, Mary Virginia McFayden, and Florence Wilson.

The next game will be played on Friday, July 19 at 7:15 p.m.

Belle Meade DBC

Bridge Center

The Bridge Center is located on Route 5 about half way between Pinehurst and Aberdeen.

Turn on Ridgeline Road at the Air Specialties’ time and temperature sign and the building is just around the curve at 197D.

Games are held every weekday at 1 p.m. Sunday games start at 1:30 p.m. No game on Saturday. Friday’s game is for Non-Life Masters (0 – 500) and is to appeal to the novice/intermediate player.

Night classes featuring the Audrey Grant or Easy Bridge systems can be arranged through Nancy Dressing (295-8871).

Game Announcements

The Singles group will meet next on Friday, July 12th. There will be a game on July 4. For any information regarding the Bridge Center, call (295-3070).

Starting Tuesday, July 2, 1:00 PM a Non-Life -Master game will be held. This game will be for players with less than 500 MP and are not Life Masters. This has been a very popular game and we invite all NLMs to join us for a fun afternoon of Bridge.

The Elks Club game is played every Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Elks Club, 280 Country Club Road, Southern Pines. Proceeds from this game support the Elks Youth Camp.

“This is the perfect place to play while taking lessons or if you have just completed a lesson series,” a spokesman says. “The atmosphere is friendly and new players are always made welcome. Come learn the mechanics of duplicate, make new friends and have a pleasant afternoon of bridge. A novice section will always be held if numbers allow.”
