Sprint Introduces New Calling Plan
A new two-way Extended Area Service arrangement providing local calling from Carthage and Vass to Sanford takes effect June 20. For the first time, Sprint local-service customers in Carthage and Vass will have Sanford customers, served by AllTel, as part of their local calling area. A majority of customers voted last year to implement EAS among the localities. In Carthage, one-party residential customers will see a monthly increase of 29 cents if they use the Basic Calling Plan, or 58 cents if they use the Community Caller or Value Caller plans. Single-line business customers will pay an additional 62 cents a month if they are on the Basic Caller plan, or $1.24 if they are on the Community Caller plan. In Vass, one-party residential customers will pay an additional 24 cents monthly if they are on the Basic Caller plan or 49 cents if they use the Community Caller or Value Caller plans. Single-line business customers will pay an additional 58 cents if they use Basic Caller, or $1.16 if they use Community Caller. “We’re pleased to provide EAS,” said Brenda Dougherty, Sprint’s director of public affairs and corporate communications. “A majority of Carthage and Vass customers who returned ballots favored this change, and we believe it is important to provide the services and calling plans our customers tell us they want.” |
