Teen Challenge, Special Olympics Set Plans for Benefit Golf Tourneys

The Sandhills Teen Challenge Golf Tournament will be held at Longleaf Golf and Country Club in Southern Pines on Saturday, July 15.

The 18-hole four-person captain's choice event begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.

The $75 entry fee includes greens and cart fees, lunch at noon and on-course beverages. It also includes a golf package for every golfer with two complimentary green fees at Longleaf and two at the Pit Golf Links, and a raffle.

The tournament will have three divisions, men, women and mixed.

There will be prizes for the winners and runner-ups in all three divisions, closest to the pin and most accurate drive.

Par, Birdie and Eagle sponsorships are available in addition to tee and green sponsorships.

Special Olympics

The Special Olympics Benefit Golf Tournament still has slots available for golfers interested in playing.

The tournament will be held at National Golf Club on Sunday, July 9. The captain's choice tournament begins at 2 p.m. with a shotgun start, and the fee to enter is $75 per player. The event is sponsored by the Southern Pines Police Department, and a dinner will be provided by Outback Steakhouse. Hole sponsorships are also available for $100.

There will be prizes awarded for closest to the pin, longest drive, and the first- and second-place teams in both net and gross divisions. There will also be a prize for a hole-in-one on a designated par-3.
