Two Southern Pines riders are among the 12 candidates for the U.S. team: Will Faudree and his Antigua, a 17-year-old Australian Thoroughbred gelding, and John Williams with Sloopy, a 14-year-old American Thoroughbred. Sloopy is co-owned by Williams and Mary Delton and Robert Boeckman.
Hunter Jumper News
Patty Heuckeroth stables brought home some top ribbons from the prestigious Upperville Horse Show held in Virginia last week. R. Braga’s River Mist, ridden and trained by Heuckeroth, was champion of the local hunter (non owner-rider), a field of 108 horses that was split into two divisions.
Heuckeroth Stables manager Tory Clavan piloted Wendy Beaver’s Goin’ Places to the top of an adult amateur class. It was the first time the 5-year-old mare had jumped a course of 3 feet.
Another 5-year-old, Inch By Inch, also owned by Braga and ridden by Heuckeroth, won top ribbons in the pre-green hunter and young hunter divisions.
At the Roanoke Valley Horse Show in Roanoke, Va., last weekend, Parker Minchin and her Mandrake were champions in the older adult hunter division. Effie Ellis and her Sandy Lane earned the reserve championship in the same division. Sassy Ellis and her jumper Gepardieu earned top ribbons, including one win, in the junior/amateur jumper division.
Foxtrack Horse Trials
More than 40 horses and riders galloped around the pecan orchard at the Foxtrack Horse Trials June 25.
