Man Suffers Heart Attack In Wreck

BY MATTHEW MORIARTY: Staff Writer

A Pinehurst man suffered a heart attack and died Friday morning while driving north on U.S. 1, according to the State Highway Patrol.

William Terry McLemore, 43, was revived on the scene, but later died, apparently due to lack of oxygen to the brain, said Trooper W.R. Ellington.

According to the Highway Patrol, the man drove on the shoulder of the road for half a mile and came to a rest on the shoulder between the entrances to the UPS distribution center and McDonald Bros.

The accident was minor enough that troopers concluded that the driver was suffering from a medical problem.

“The doctors think that it was a heart attack,” Ellington said.
