Hanley was presented with an engraved walnut plaque and multi-tool during a ceremony on Thursday, May 26, 2005, at his school.
Pinecrest students nominated Hanley for the 2004-2005 Technology Education Outstanding Teacher Award. They logged onto teched101.com, a Web site for technology education teachers and nominated Hanley with a short essay about why he should receive the award. Hanley was selected as one of the 250 Technology Education Teacher Award recipients from a nationwide pool of over 30,000 technology education teachers.
One of the 250 Technology Education Outstanding Teacher Award recipients will be further selected as the Teacher of the Year, with additional recognition. This recognition includes having his picture and biographical profile on the May 2006 calendar page of the Technology Education Teachers’ 12-Month Planning Guide that is distributed to over 30,000 high school technology education teachers each year by the U.S. Air Force.
The U.S. Air Force has been participating in the technology education shop-safety program, providing thousands of technology education teachers with free shop-safety posters and other materials each year, for over 18 years.
“The U.S. Air Force is very proud of being able to provide high-quality shop-safety materials to America's technology education teachers since 1985,” said Sgt. Michael Grosso. “We’re extremely pleased to be able to honor these 250 outstanding teachers with a small token of our esteem, as well as let them know how much their students appreciate them.”
The U.S. Air Force congratulates Bob Hanley on being selected as a 2004-2005 technology education outstanding teacher.
