She is the daughter of Marty and Pam Wase of Pinebluff, and a 2004 graduate of Pinecrest High School where she graduated 24th in a class of 339.
She intends to start classes at N.C. State University in the fall studying atmospheric science with a concentration in meteorology.
Wase has been active in band, National Honor Society, Interact and debate, as well as many other activities. She played softball for Aberdeen Middle School, and then went on to play Pinecrest High School softball for four years serving as captain during her senior year on the varsity team.
The first scholarship was presented by the Moore County PTSA to two Moore County seniors, who along with being members of the PTSA must qualify for academic recognition amongst their peers and demonstrate dedication in their pursuit of a post-secondary education.
The Aberdeen Lions Club sponsored the second scholarship she received. This scholarship is one of two presented by the Aberdeen Lions Club this year to Pinecrest seniors. Recipients of the Lions Club scholarship must have attended other Aberdeen schools during their educational journey.
The third scholarship was sponsored by the North Carolina Jaycee International Senate. Wase traveled to Hickory where the scholarship was awarded at the mid-year awards convention for the N.C. Jaycees.
The senate is a distinguished branch of the Jaycee organization. Only one percent of all Jaycees go on to be recognized and honored with membership in the senate. The senate’s largest contribution is monetary as they run fund-raisers to help fund the many programs that the Jaycees sponsor. They also give of their time and expertise to the organization to help build new leaders of tomorrow.
Scholarship recipients must show a dedication to community service and a willingness and determination to pursue further education to make this world a better place.
This scholarship is one of two presented by the NCJCI Senate each year to North Carolina seniors from the over 900 high schools in the state. This year both recipients were from Pinecrest High School. Their applications were sent on to compete nationally.
