Dallas and Troy both went 3-0 in the two winners’ brackets of the 16-team event before being upset by teams coming out of the loser’s brackets. That left five teams with one loss before Dallas eliminated Elizabethtown on Wednesday.
Thursday’s contests had Troy facing Lumberton American and Dallas meeting Tryon for places in game one of the finals. The second game is scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. with a third game set for 7 p.m., if needed.
The local entry and host team, the Moore County All-Stars, was eliminated by losses to Cape Fear and Clinton over the weekend. The North Carolina champion that will be crowned on Saturday advances to play in the Dixie Youth Baseball World Series to be held in Muscle Shoals, Ala. on August 9-14. The tournament is being put on by the Dixie organization along with Moore County Parks and Recreation.
The admission price is $4 per day, but there is no charge for children under the age of 13.
