A Respite/Caregiver Volunteer training to provide relief for a homebound caregiver. Classes are July 28 and 29, from 9 to 2 p.m., at Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church, Southern Pines. Lunch is provided.

The National Caregiver Training Program details personal care, infection control, medication management, fall safety, etc. The six-week session begins Aug. 10 with classes held every Tuesday, from 9 a.m. until noon, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital’s Convention Center.

Aberdeen Parks and Recreation is offering Golf Lessons: adults in July and August, 5:30-6:30 for five weeks. Play a 9-hole round at completion; seniors for five weeks in August, 9-11 a.m. Register at the recreation office, 115 N. Poplar St., Aberdeen. Call 944-1115 for more information.

    Tai Chi classes are held at the Aberdeen Lake Park building each Monday and/or Wednesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. with Master Lee as the instructor. Cost is $30 per month for one class per week and $50 per month for two classes per week.

    Stretch and tone classes for seniors only are held on Monday and Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. in the Aberdeen Lake building. There are no fees.

    Chair exercise classes are held on Monday and Thursday mornings at 11 a.m. in the Aberdeen Lake building.

    “Achievement & Awards Celebration”: To be held Aug. 5 at 3:30 p.m. for children participating in the Pinehurst 2004 Reading Open.

    The Given Book Shop at Olmsted Village is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It offers used books, puzzles, audios, videos, games, artwork by local artists, and Tufts Archives memoralbilia for sale. All proceeds go to the library/archives.

    The Given Collection, a cookbook of over 350 recipes contributed by members of the community, is available at the library for $12.50. Call the library to reserve a copy or pick one up at any time during hours of operation.
