Who can forget Sen. Daschle proclaiming “the worst economy since the Great Depression”? Or how about Ted Kennedy along with many other Dems claiming that tax cuts “will only benefit the rich and would offer no stimulus to the economy or job creation.” Subsequent events have shown that such statements were not only false, but intended to deceive.
The most recent “over-the-top” statement by our friends on the far left came a few months ago from John Kerry. He accused President Bush of “playing politics” by setting an arbitrary June deadline for Iraqi sovereignty. His rationale was that there was too much chaos and no identifiable leaders or government entity to accept such a transfer of power.
As we know now, the transfer was accomplished two days early without incident. Furthermore, the new government has moved to put Saddam on trial and to hold free elections in January 2005. Not bad for a country that John Kerry thought was not ready for anything! The point is that all these disingenuous statements by Liberals against the president and the country serve no useful purpose — they only embolden our enemies.
For people like Kennedy, Clinton and Kerry to question George Bush’s wartime leadership is like Neville Chamberlain second-guessing Winston Churchill during World War II. Liberals have never had the moral high ground on matters of war and peace, but don’t expect that to stop these fallacious attacks on the president.
