The NCDOT Equipment Unit was named as one of three finalists for the U.S. Department of Energy’s 2004 Clean Cities National Partner Award.
The award is presented to companies, organizations, cities and states for outstanding contributions to the growth of the alternative fuel vehicle market. With more than 90 organizations nominated for the prestigious honor, this recognition distinguishes NCDOT as a frontrunner in the use of alternative fuels, a spokesman said.
The unit was also praised for its support of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s mission to promote and implement the use of biodiesel and other alternative fuels.
“NCDOT is proud to be recognized as a leader in the use of alternative fuels,” said Transportation Secretary Lyndo Tippet. “We will continue to uphold our commitment to environmental stewardship by not only using biodiesel and alternative fuels, but also by helping to expand the use of environmentally-friendly fuels to other government and state agencies.”
