Union Pines High School Plans Freshman Orientation Program

Union Pines High School will offer the program, “Making High School Count,” for its freshman class on Aug. 5 at 9 a.m.

The one-hour, assembly-style presentation will be delivered free to students and parents at the UPHS Freshman and New Student Orientation in the UPHS Auditorium.

After the assembly, parents will meet first semester teachers and help their children become familiar with the campus.

“Making High School Count” is designed to help students understand the importance of high school and what they need to accomplish to maximize their opportunities upon graduation. The program also addresses transitional issues such as time management and study skills. In addition, it will focus on the importance of grades and ways to improve; what colleges, the military or employers look for; common freshman mistakes and how to prevent them; ways to create a personal plan for success; and the importance of extracurricular activities and employment.
