According to a report from the Moore County Sheriff’s Department, Cameron Police Chief Gary McDonald spotted a vehicle that fit the description of a vehicle used in an armed robbery in Sanford.
McDonald stopped the vehicle as it was traveling west on N.C. 24. As the chief walked up to the vehicle, the passenger jumped out of the car and ran into the woods.
McDonald detained the driver, a man named Eric C. Boyd, 32, a Robbins resident. Lee County deputies arrived and arrested Boyd on armed robbery charges. According to the press release, similar charges are pending in Moore County.
Moore County deputies arrived and began searching for the passenger. At about 2:30 a.m., a witness told officers that a suspicious man was near the First Baptist Church of Cameron.
Deputies arrived there and spotted the suspect. There was a foot pursuit. Deputies tracked him down and arrested him in the woods behind the church. Deputies identified the suspect as Walker Darin Singletary, 34, of Seagrove.
Deputies charged Singletary in two armed robberies from July. Singletary is accused of robbing the Quick-N-Easy convenience store on N.C. 22 in High Falls on July 4, and robbing the Fuel Mate convenience store on Juniper Lake Road near Pinehurst on July 13.
Singletary faces two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of breaking and entering and larceny and two counts of breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle.
He was jailed under a $100,000 bond. Boyd was placed in the Lee County Jail under a $40,000 bond.
Cocaine Charge: Moore County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 21-year-old Eagle Springs man July 10 and charged him with trying to sell cocaine.
Deputies charged Rexie Allen Andrade with possession of 12 dosage units of cocaine. Andrade faces possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine and felony possession of cocaine charges.
He was jailed with a court hearing set for Thursday.
Methamphetamine Charges: Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Sanford man June 26 and charged him with possession of a controlled substance.
Paul Anderson Mashburn, 34, is accused of being in possession of methamphetamine on April 16.
Attempted Robbery: Sheriff’s deputies arrested a West End woman July 3 on attempted robbery charges.
Ramona Lise Gaines, 33, is accused of attempting to rob Larry McRae at gunpoint on Aug. 10, 2001. Gaines was jailed with a $5,000 secured bond. Her first court hearing is Thursday.
Kidnapping: Southern Pines police arrested a 22-year-old Hoffman man and charged him with kidnapping.
Luther Legrande Harrison is accused of kidnapping Lathasha Rachele Wall on March 25.
Fraud: Aberdeen and Southern Pines police arrested a 50-year-old Durham man on fraud charges.
William Larry Thomas is accused of passing a counterfeit check at Bo’s Food Store on March 17 and two at Davenport’s Galaxy on March 30 and June 16.
Officers charged him with three counts of obtaining property by false pretense. Thomas was jailed with a $5,000 secured bond. His first court hearing is Wednesday.
n Pinehurst police arrested a Four Oaks man on Monday and charged him with obtaining property by false pretense and financial identity fraud.
The charge dates back to Dec. 18, 2000. Samuel McGill Jr., 30, is charged with presenting a check on a closed account to PostBox Plus and using the driver’s license number of Carolyn Jean Krueck.
McGill was jailed with a $5,000 secured bond. His first court hearing is Wednesday.
n Carthage Police arrested a 42-year-old woman on charges that she altered a prescription in an attempt to obtain the drug OxyContin.
Police charged Doreen Marie Carr with attempting to obtain a controlled substance by forgery or fraud. Carr was released on a $3,000 bond. Her first court hearing is Wednesday.
