Farm Life Rallies to Win Championship Of County Major League Tournament

Farm Life came back from an early deficit to grab a 7-5 win over Westmoore in the championship game of the Moore County rec department’s major league baseball tournament.

After spotting Westmoore a quick 5-0 lead after two innings of the clash played at Hillcrest Park in late June, Farm Life clawed back to take the two-run win in six innings.

In the top of the first, Farm Life had runners on second and third but could not score.

Westmoore, sponsored by Reynolds Crane and Rigging, didn’t have that problem in the bottom of the first as Steven Davis, Kirk Williams, Clay Hutchins and Dalewyn Spinks all tallied runs to take a 4-0 lead.

Farm Life failed to score in the top of the second, and Westmoore tacked on one more run, provided by Marshallre Ross, to take a 5-0 lead.

Farm Life broke into the scoring column with two markers in the top of the third. Yorke Sweat and Jeremy Evans scored, cutting the Westmoore’s margin to 5-2. Westmoore failed to score in the bottom of the inning.

In the fourth inning, Farm Life scored two more with Matt Key and C.D. Priest plated runs. Once again Westmoore was held scoreless and the score stood at 5-4 at the end of four.

Farm Life punched across two runs in the top of the fifth to take a 6-5 lead. Sweat and Evans scored for Farm Life. Westmoore wasn’t able to score in the bottom of the frame, and trailed for the first time in the game.

Farm Life added an insurance run in the sixth as Sweat recorded his third run of the game. Trailing 7-5 entering its last at-bat, Westmoore went down one, two, three and the game ended with Farm Life holding the comeback victory.
