Harrell Nominated for Award
Dr. Sharon Nicholson Harrell, director of the FirstHealth Dental Health Program in Moore County, has been nominated for Glaxo Wellcome’s Child Health Individual Recognition Award.
The awards are designed to showcase exceptional and innovative programs that improve the lives of North Carolina’s children.
Individuals and health care organizations from 36 counties around the state were nominated.
The awards include monetary grants for educational and other purposes.
“We hope that by recognizing and publicizing successful efforts to improve children’s health, the program will stimulate thinking by others throughout the state on how they might translate some of the award-winning ideas in their area,” said George Morrow, president and CEO of Glaxo Wellcome Inc.
A selection committee composed of health care professionals and chosen by the N.C. Partnership for Children evaluates the nominations.
A ceremony honoring award recipients and nominees will be held in Wilmington on Sept. 22, as part of the N.C. Public Health Association’s annual meeting.
