Lewis Family
The Lewis Family from Lincolnton, Ga., will be in concert at the East Montgomery High School Auditorium on Friday, Jan. 13. The East Montgomery High School campus is located on U.S. Business 220 South in Biscoe. The concert will begin at 8 p.m. The concert will mark 43 consecutive years in Montgomery County for The Lewis Family.
The concert is sponsored by The West Montgomery Lions Club. All profits from the concert will be utilized by the Lions for various charitable projects. Admission is $10.
Special Program
Fletcher’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Hoffman will hold a “Father, Son and Holy Ghost” program on Sunday, Jan. 15, at 3 p.m.
The Bethea Brothers will be the guest ministers. Gwen Miller is the coordinator and the pastor is the Rev. Charles A. Bethea.
Missionary Speaks
Beaver Creek Baptist Church will hear missionary Manuel M. Dioses on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m. The church is located at 2280 Nicholson Rd., Cameron.
Aberdeen First Baptist
Between last September and December the children and preschoolers of Aberdeen First Baptist church saved and earned over $2,000 in missions offerings for hurricane Katrina relief funds and international missions offering.
Starting this month, the children and preschool choirs of Aberdeen First Baptist Church will be singing for the Elmcroft Nursing Center once a month as a ministry to the residents there. This is in preparation of “adopting a grandparent” that the church hopes to begin sometime in 2006.
Family Enrichment Night continues on Monday, Jan. 16, with Randy and Suzanne Clendenin at 6 p.m. with a light meal and child care.
Gospel Singing

Seven Days of Prayer
St. Matthews Chapel in the Eastwood community will host “Seven Days of Prayer,” continuing through Saturday, Jan. 7. Services are at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. There will be a “lock-in” prayer service from midnight Friday, Jan. 6, through 7 a.m. Saturday.

Annual Meeting
Church Women United will hold its annual meeting on Friday, Jan. 6, at the Community Presbyterian Church, 125 Everette Road, Pinehurst, at 10 a.m.
Guest speaker, Kathryn Sells, is with the MATCH program of the women’s prison in Raleigh. A lunch will follow the program.

MLK Events
On Sunday, Jan. 15, and Monday, Jan. 16, the Rev. Mark J. Olson and Snyder Memorial Baptist Church will host the 13th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. worship service, beginning at 7 p.m., and Dr. Martin Luther King prayer breakfast, beginning at 8 a.m. the following morning. The worship service will be held at the Lewis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Fayetteville. The breakfast will be held at the Crown Exposition Center in Fayetteville.
The service and breakfast are in recognition of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in the Eastern North Carolina Episcopal District.
The keynote speaker at the service will be Dr. John D. Fuller. The service will be about “building our community on our strengths,” including military, heritage, history, ethnicity and education.
The keynote speaker for the breakfast will be Bishop Richard K. Thompson.
Music will be provided by nine-year-old pianist Kwynn Gilbert of Greater First Baptist Church in Cedar Creek; a duet with Donald Byrd and Patricia Randall of Lewis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Fayetteville; Tyrone Armwood of Capitol Heights, Md.; the “Sheet Rock” Drummers of Peterson Elementary School in Red Springs and Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, accompanied by Sheriff Hubert Peterkin of Raeford in “Bring Them Back Alive”; and a duet with Dr. J.C. White, pastor of Evans Chapel A.M.E Zion Church in Siler City and the Rev. George Dillahunty, pastor of Mount Olive A.M.E. Zion Church in Riverdale.

Tutoring Program
The Creative Learning Center (CLC) offers a tutorial program on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m., at First Missionary Baptist Church, 315 South Gaines St., Southern Pines. Teachers and volunteers offer their skills to help children.
Any child is invited to participate.
“Come out, bring your children, their school assignments, book, and questions,” said a spokesman. “We have the answers. If we don’t, we’ll get them.”
Bible Study
“‘What Women Want ... REALLY!’ is the women’s Bible study that will renew, revitalize, and restore your faith,” said a spokesman. “Join women in your area for six months of Tuesday evening ‘spa’ treatments. Support Groups
“Not Alone” is a bereavement group for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one.
Meetings are held monthly on the second Sunday at 6 p.m. at Community Presbyerian Church, located on the corner of Kelly and Everette Roads in Pinehurst.
“Caregivers” is a support and educational group. Caregivers is comprised of individuals who are caring for loved ones, whether they live at home or in a care facility.
The group meets for dinner at 6 p.m. on the fourth Sunday of the month at the Community Presbyterian Church.
