Southern Guilford defeated the Mustangs 91-36 in Thursday’s second round game, while Trinity stopped the Mustangs in Wednesday’s tournament opener.
North Moore held its own for the first quarter, which ended with the score knotted at 10-all.
However, the Jets outscored the Mustangs 24-8 in the second quarter to lead at the intermission by a score of 34-18.
Jordan-Matthews padded its lead in the third quarter, outscoring the Mustangs 14-9 to lead at the end of the third period, 48-27, and widened the gap even further in the final period to win by 30 points.
It was the first time the two teams, both 1-A schools and both members of the Yadkin Valley Conference, have met this season. They will play each other twice more during the regular season.
Justin Warren was high for Jordan-Matthews with 20 points, while Dwayne Simmons led the Mustangs with nine points.
Jordan-Matthews’ record improved to 7-5 overall and 0-1 in the conference. North Moore’s record fell to 2-10. The Mustangs are 1-1 in the conference standings.
North Moore was scheduled to play conference-foe East Montgomery at home on Tuesday.
