Materials on Organ Donation Offered to Teachers

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the North Carolina Coalition on Donation are encouraging educators to bring organ donation information into the classroom.

Two free programs are available to educators to provide students with information about organ, tissue, eye, bone marrow and blood donation.

Educators can download a copy of the “License to Give” materials from the state’s LearnNC Web site at www. learnnc.com. Kits for the program can also be requested from the state’s two organ procurement groups — Carolina Donor Services (1-800-200-2672) or LifeShare of the Carolinas (1-800-932-4483).

Materials for “Decision: Dona-tion” can be downloaded from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Web site at www.organdonor.gov or by calling (301) 443-7577.
