Ballroom Dancing Classes Begin Jan. 31 in West End

Be ready to dance at your next wedding, party, class reunion, or cruise!

Beginning ballroom dancing classes will be held at the Olde West End Gym at 8 p. m. Wednes-day evenings, Jan. 31 through March 21, from 7:15 to 9:15 p.m. The cost of the lessons is $2 per person per lesson.

The classes, sponsored by the Moore County Parks and Recreation Department, will be taught by Tony and Arlene Hantjis. Everyone is welcome, regardless of age or previous dancing experi-ence. The goal of the classes is to develop basic skills and techniques and have fun learning to dance. Dances to be taught at the beginner level are the Social Foxtrot, American Rumba, American Waltz, Cha Cha, and East Coast Swing. Other dance-related topics will be covered as well.

"Everyone should wear comfortable clothing and wear or bring smooth-soled shoes," a spokes-man said. "Ladies should wear or bring shoes with closed backs and mid or low heels. Please do not plan to dance in sneakers or athletic shoes."

Registration is necessary and attendance at the first class is necessary. To register, call Tony and Arlene Hantjis at 235-0998.
