Forget Dieting: It’s Girl Scout Cookie Time

It is a well-known fact that losing weight is the No. 1 New Year’s resolution. It is also well known that most resolutions are short lived. Here is a guilt-free way to break your weight loss resolution and support a great organization at the same time. So get ready — it’s Girl Scout cookie time.

Pines of Carolina Girl Scouts will be taking orders Jan. 6 to March 4 with deliveries beginning in mid-February. This year, seven of your favorite varieties will be back including Samoas, Thin Mints, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Do-Si-Dos, Apple Cinnamon, and Lemon Drop. And we are excited to introduce a brand new cookie to tempt your tastebuds — the Aloha Chip! The Aloha Chip is a scrumptious blend of rich white chocolate fudge chips and crunchy macadamia nuts. The price per box is $3.

Proceeds are used for on-going program and services, for purchases of equipment, and for maintenance and development of Girl Scout property. Troops receive a bonus for each box sold to help finance their own programs and community projects. Locally, approximately 1,632,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies were sold last year.

If you are not contacted by a Girl Scout and wish to order cookies, please call the Moore County Girl Scout office at 910-692-6156.

Girl Scouts of the USA is the world’s pre-eminent organization for girls, with a membership of more than 3.5 million girls and adults. In Girl Scouting — and its special girl-only environment — girls discover the fun, friendship, and power of girls together.
