When I pick up a prescription at the local pharmacy, I can read the medications’ side effects and cautions. A non-reader cannot.
When I am looking for a job, I can adequately read through The Pilot’s want ads. A non-reader cannot.
When you hear the word “illiterate,” what goes through your mind? Do you have any idea the impact of not being able to read has on a person’s life?
The Moore County Literacy Council’s mission statement reads, “Eradicate illiteracy in Moore County.” We cannot do this without your help. We need you to volunteer to “Open Doors and Change Lives” for a person who wants to learn to read or read better. Call Pam at 692-5954 at the Moore County Literacy Council to become a volunteer tutor.
Remember, illiteracy does not go away by itself. It is always there — day and night, night and day.
