A black history program will be held at New Zion A.M.E. Church on Sunday, Feb. 19, at 3 p.m. We are asking each church from the community to take part.
All women in Addor and Pinebluff are invited to a special fellowship meeting at the Addor Community Center on Sunday, Feb. 5, at 5 p.m. The chairperson is Louise Jones.
The election of new members of the Board of Directors of the Community Center is approaching. We need young men and women who are willing to take over a good job for the community. The election will be held Feb. 14 at 5 p.m. A benefit drawing will also be held that day at 7 p.m. First prize is a lovely queen-size bedspread. The other prizes are $75 and $50. Tickets are just $2 ticket. All proceeds will benefit the Community Center.

Covington, Stella Gillispie, Lenola Washington, Eugene McRae, Leonard McMillian, Allen “Nutt” Smith, Alton “Jim” Smith and Essie McRae are all in nursing homes.

The Eastwood Community was saddened by the death of Larry McRae.
Jackie Headen did a wonderful job on her initial sermon. Tina Galbreth Harris will preach her initial sermon Sunday, Feb. 26, at 5 p.m. at St. Peter’s in Eastwood.
The appreciation service for Overseer Benjamin Faison turned out great on Saturday.
St. Ruth’s will be having their ushers’ anniversary on Sunday at 4 p.m.
God’s Love in Action had a wonderful revival last weekend. God’s Love in Action will have a platform service Friday night at 7:30, hosted by the ministerial staff.
St. Peter’s will have a Love Fellowship on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 5 p.m.

Tiphanie Drakeford has been a Head Start parent-volunteer for more than seven years.
Her tireless efforts to promote and carry out the ideals of the Head Start program and to encourage and educate young children is valued by our community. She is active with the volunteer council, and other committees on county, regional, and state levels.
We salute her for black history month as a “young trailblazer.” She is the granddaughter of Bishop Larry Brown and his wife, Elsie, of the House of Prayer. Her parents are Laura Spencer and Larry Drakeford.

The AKA sorority of Moore County will sponsor the annual talent showcase at the H. A. Wilson auditorium at Southern Pines Primary School on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 6 p.m.
Adult and youth entertainers from around the county and state will perform music, dance, comedy and drama routines.

Bible study will be held tonight at 6:30 at God’s House of Prayer Ministry. Pastor Mary Kelly will teach the lesson.

The Alliance held its Joy Jubilee Festival at Cameron Elementary School on Sunday, Jan. 29. Pastor Kelly of God’s House of Prayer Ministry was the speaker. The word came from Acts 16:25. Her subject was “Your Midnight Hour.” The Gospel Mellowtones also performed.
Congratulations to Raekwon Smith who received a perfect attendance certificate at Vass Lakeview Elementary School for the second time this year. He is in kindergarten. He is the son of Eric and Anita Smith.
