The Sandblasters played a captain’s choice tournament Feb. 8 at Midland Country Club, with 35 players.
Bill Crenson, Fred Cirule, Will Downing and Clark Russell were first with a 35 in a match of cards with the teams of Walter Lang, Joe Miko, Bill Davis and Don Green; and Art Gula, Walt Scheyete, Carl Arnett and Joe Alden.
Longleaf: The Women’s Golf Association played a team choice event Thursday. The two-ball low net team winners were Jan Lindmark and Jean Fish. The low net winner was Sally Emerine, who also chipped in for a birdie on No. 2.
Midland: The Women’s Golf Association played a game of low gross and low net Feb. 10.
On 18 holes, Joanne Rabdau was low gross with a 90. Lauramae Smith was low net at 79. On nine holes, Bev Braunscheidel was low gross at 50. Alberta Settzo was low net at 36.
Joan Barriage chipped in on No. 3.
The Men’ s Golf Association played a net tournament using two best balls of the foursome Feb. 9. Jim Braunscheidel, Bill Crenson, Art Gula and Dick Madeira were the overall winners with a 123.
Charlie Cook, Bob Alcorn, Fred Cirule and Jack Henderson won the front nine with a 61. Joe Alden, Al High, Walt Scheyett and a blind draw won the back nine with a 60.
Thirteen golfers played a nine-hole Skins game. Howard Fordree (No. 2), Tom Farrell (No. 7) and Paul Sanger (No. 9) each won one skin.
Birdies were carded by Art Gula (Nos. 1 and 14), Charlie Cook (No. 2), Paul Sanger (No. 9), Jim Braunscheidel (Nos. 14 and 18), Bill Crenson (No. 15) and Walt Scheyett (No. 15).
National: Men’s Day was held Saturday, Feb. 12. In Stableford tournament, Eddie Davis was plus 5; Rick Knight, plus 2; and Scott Fields and Dick Tilley was plus 1.
In a Skins Game, Eddie Davis and Dick Tilley each won three skins. Phil Hinesley and Rick Knight won two skins each. Brian Spannaus amd Scott Fields won one skin each.
Eddie Davis was first in a Best 17 event with a 63. Dick Tilley was second with a 65. Rick Knight was third with a 65.

Class AA/BB — Susan Marentette, Kay McGowan, Bette Rycroft and Julie Polk were first with an 89 in a match of cards with Tee Noggle, Karen Plankar, Joyce Harter and Josie Bunting. Maureen Reeves, Betsy Nazario, Sara Sutton and Patti O’Day were third with a 91 in a match of cards with Val Minik, Jackie Meyer, Olive Muiter and Caroline Clemons.
Class CC/DD — Terry Rutowski, Gene Marchand, Regina Stoddard and Alice Wood were first with a 92. June Eichle, Aurele Timken, Darlene Skinner and Ann Leib were second with a 94 in a match of cards with Glenna Pope, Marilyn Gordon, Nora Sinclair and Jan Polisto. Audrae Thibodeau, Fran Schwem, Diane Ghekas and Dee Rintz were fourth with a 95.
Birdies were made by Tee Noggle, Karen Plankar, Jane Lee, Myrna Floyd, Trish Christina (two), Jean Sundstrom, Jackie Meyer (two) and Betsy Nazario.
The Chippers played a game of throw out the worst two holes Feb. 10 on Course No. 5, with 21players. Jill Fleisher won. Louise Smith was second. Anne Chatterton came in third, and Sarah Roberts finished fourth.
Polly Matthews chipped in on hole No. 3.
The Silver Foils played a captain's choice tournament Feb. 8, with 36 players. Dian Moore, Ruby Brooks, Austine White and Linn Ardner were first with a 50.
Nell deGroot, Gay Griffith, Ilse Roberts and Phyllis Watson came in second with a 53. Jean Underwood, Marge Swinarton, Judy Sanders and Jane Smith were third with a 54.
The Women’s Golf Association played a Nassau tournament using one best ball Feb. 11 on Course No. 20, with 90 players. Cheryl Hague, Gerri LoFrese, Cindy Motter and Ilse Roberts were the overall winners with a 62.
Pamela Irwin, Jackie Meyer, Marianne Regler and Penny Salley won the front nine with a 29. Claire Gaston, Patricia Heavey, Barbara Raugh and Dorothy Zihal were second with a 30 in a match of cards.

Pinewild: The Men’s Golf Association played a team and individual match using one best ball the first six holes, two best balls on the second six holes and three best balls on the third six holes. Rich Winkley, George Watterworth, Gary Tanner and Rich Steere won with a 16 under par.
Gary Magee, Jim Pryor, Bud Kanaley and Bruce Engelking were second at 14 under. Spike Billings, Larry Perkinson, Robert Welter and Ron Joseph were third at 14 under. Michael Skrabak, Don Johnston, Dick Kenner and Art Dube were fourth at 13 under.
